Our purpose To help children develop their social, physical, emotional and spiritual selves in a Christian atmosphere. We recognize and acknowledge that God has uniquely created each child enrolled in our program. Students enhance their experiences through art, music and classroom activities. Research and experience confirm that a positive learning environment facilitates the development of each child according to his particular needs, interests and unique abilities. Therefore, our aim is to aid development by providing a background of rewarding and positive experiences. We have programs for children on various days of the week. Our programs start after Labor Day and end the week before Gwinnett County Schools. We, otherwise, follow the Gwinnett County School calendar throughout the year.
Our Programs The McKendree UMC Preschool offers classes for children ages 2-5 and younger children with two Mother's Morning Out (MMO) programs. The Little Me class is for children 12 to 18 months and MMO is for children 18 to 24 months. To partcipate in Little Me, your child must be 12 months by December 31; for MMO, your child must be 18 months by September 1.
Our Curriculum A well-rounded curriculum is available at our preschool. We are interested in working with the whole child. Cognitive skills, language development, fine and gross motor skills, social interactions, and emotional and spiritual growth are the areas of emphasis in our curriculum. As the children progress through the curriculum, they will also grow in the areas of self-esteem and self-discipline. We will not push your child. We are here to guide and encourage. An outline of specific topics is published in our handbook.
About Our School The McKendree UMC Preschool has been educating children since 1988. Many of our teachers (including ALL teachers in the four year old classes) have college degrees in education.
| Teacher-Student Ratios Our teacher-student ratios are lower than many other preschool and daycare programs.
