Travel back in time and imagine the small town of Bethlehem 2,000 years ago.

Beware of the Roman soldiers, patrolling the streets. Register your family with the census taker at the gate. Walk the crowded and narrow streets. Visit the bustling marketplace and talk with the vendors busy in their shops. See the shepherds watching their flocks by the light of the moon.

Listen carefully and you can hear as the villagers talk in excited yet hushed voices about seeing angels. Listen, to them speak of the very special baby who’s just been born.

Be aware of miracles occurring all around. But, don’t plan to stay overnight. The inn is full! Even though we’ve set the stage, this isn’t a play. You’re witnessing a re-creation of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the mystery of Christmas as it all began.

The city gates are open from 6 – 8 pm and admission is free, just like God’s mercy and grace to you. Invite your family, friends and neighbors!

We are asking everyone in the McKendree family to help us make this year's Walk better than ever!

Thank you to all who have signed up to help. But we have many spots still available. You can sign up for one night, two nights, or all three. We appreciate any help...any time! Specific volunteer needs are for the Hospitality Room, the costume room, for construction and booth set up and for clean-up help on Sunday evening / Monday.

For those interested in being a "cast member" such as a Wiseman, an angel, Mary or Joseph, or a townsperson, we have availability there also. We also have spots available for townspeople, to dress in costume, and "roam the town", chatting with visitors and pointing everyone in the direction of the Star.

All classes and small groups please consider adopting a booth.( Example - small groups, Bible Studies, Disciple classes, Sunday School classes, or just groups of friends!) You choose a booth from our list, decorate it, and then have 3 - 4 people in the booth. After the Walk is over, your group would be responsible for cleaning up your area.

To help out in ANY capacity for this year's Walk Thru Bethlehem, contact Jen Lomas at sjler@bellsouth.net. We will be holding volunteer training sessions throughout the day on Sunday, November 21, and would love to see you there!

Please help McKendree reach out to our community and share the story of our Lord and Savior's birth this Christmas!

Thank you for your prayers as McKendree eagerly awaits the chance to celebrate, and tell the story of Jesus’ birth.
